Our Response as a Congregation
As a congregation we covenant together to be faithful to God through worship, witness and ministry to this community and the world.

Individually we commit ourselves to:
live as wholesome examples of redeemed people
pray diligently for God's presence in ourselves and this community
proclaim the salvation of God in word and deed
minister the love and compassion as Jesus would

Our History
First Church of God began in a tent revival meeting held in the summer of 1929.   The First Church building was built in1931 at the corner of High and Church Streets in Eaton. In 1962, the church relocated to its current location at Harris and Union Streets. First Church is affiliated with the Church of God, with general offices in Anderson, IN. The Church of God has 2,307 congregations in 49 states and the District of Columbia, as well as 52 congregations in Canada.  These churches minister to over 218,000 people. In more than 80 other countries there are over 4,432 congregations working with more than 392,000 fellow believers.

What We Believe
The Church of God believes the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, sufficient to teach us about the one and only true God. We believe the Bible teaches the need for every person to come to a saving knowledge of God's only Son, Jesus Christ. We believe in the Biblical teachings of holy living, Christian unity, and the gifting and empowering  of all Christians by the Holy Spirit.  We believe Christ will return from Heaven, bringing judgment for the living and the dead. In all things we trust in the sufficiency of the grace and power of Jesus Christ.

Our Purpose
The purpose of First Church of God in Eaton is to glorify God as we:

Provide
creative and meaningful worship experiences
Create opportunities to lead people into a personal faith in Jesus Christ
Build a supportive community of Christian relationships
Equip individuals in their walk with Christ through the teaching of Scripture
Unite with all Christians in reaching the world for Christ.
To send out each Christian in ministry everywhere to reach those who have not heard God's call
